Early Childhood Development (ECD) Level 4 Learnership

About applying for an early childhood development (ECD) programme certificate.

Do you run an early childhood development (ECD) facility and want to provide learning andsupport appropriate to developing the age, stage and needs of children you take care of, including children with a disability, chronic illness and other special needs?

You can apply for an ECD programme certificate at your nearest Department of Social Development or municipal office. Your application may be granted for a period of not more than five years.

For your application to be considered, your ECD programme must:

provide appropriate development opportunitiesbe aimed at helping children realise their full potentialcare for children in a constructive manner and provide support and securityensure the development of positive social behaviour

respect and nurture the culture, spirit, dignity, individuality and language of each childmeet the emotional, cognitive, sensory, spiritual, moral, physical, social andcommunication development needs of each child

You must be fit and properhave an appropriate ECD qualification, skills and traininghave worked in the early childhood development field for a minimum of three years.

Please note: To qualify for the funding of ECD programmes, you must comply with theprescribed national norms and standards.

Funding is prioritised in communities where familieslack the means of providing proper shelter, food and other basic necessities of life to theirchildren.

This is an application form for an 18-month learnership at an ECD centre in the wider CapeTown area. The programme will run from 1 April 2024 to 30 September 2025.

Students will receive a SETA-accredited Early Childhood Level 4 Qualification at the end of the18 months.

Please take note of the following criteria.Applicants must:

– be a South African citizen between 18 and 28 years.– hold a grade 11 or 12 pass.

– be unemployed.

– have a valid South African ID document.– reside in the Cape Town area.

– have a clean criminal record.

– experience working or volunteering at an ECD centre (beneficial but not required).

– commit to an 18-month ECD learnership contract.Kindly apply ONLY if you meet ALL the above criteria.
