Job Description | Coca-Cola Beverages Africa is the largest African Coca-Cola bottler, accounting for 40% of all Coca-Cola volumes on the continent. CCBA is a market leader in the NARTD (non-alcoholic ready to drink market) in Africa. CCBSA employs +-7500 employees.Key Purpose Statement To provide effective instrumentation and control system support to Regional CCBSA operations. This will be achieved by assisting in problem solving, Control & Automation asset management and enhancing operational performance. Central role serving as a feeder role into the Process Control Engineer (i.e., Escalations from the regions would be handled by the role. |
Key Duties & Responsibilities | Develop Documentation Standards Support the Process Control Engineers and Process Control Manager in developing adequate procedures/standards, for review by Manufacturing and Engineering leads, for the following: Backups (used as guides in the maintenance of assets).Calibration and Diagrams (P&IDs, Schematics, Network) for engineering best practice and change control. Disaster recovery and Business Continuity (to enable Risk mitigation).Reduction of Control & Automation Downtime Provide the First level of central escalation support for Control & Automation breakdowns This will include debugging and troubleshooting automation and control systems, including PLC’s, HMI’s, servos, and instrumentation. Optimisation of control systems at focused improvement sites including utilities, processing, and production lines by analysing downtime and engineering solutions. Ensure that all process control software is backed up and up to date according to set standards by regular engagement and audits. Coach, guide and assist technicians and controllers in breakdown situations if an escalation occurs.Analyse major Control & Automation downtime trends and proactively eliminate causes. Collaborate with the Engineers in the development of C&A related solutions.Ensure the integrity and reliability of production systems software and hardware from Programmable Logic Controlled devices to ERP system by monitoring maintenance, adherence to standards and effective problem solving. Participate in the Control & Automation community by enabling knowledge sharing and skill transfer.Site and Regional ProjectsSupport the project and site engineers by enforcing group standards and implementing appropriate and industry standard solutions. Provide support on the required equipment, software, and relevant resources to the project in line with the required standards.Site Support and CoordinationGuide site representative (Control & Automation Controller or Engineer) With Regards To: Operational Technology (Industrial Information Technology) and systems implementations.Industrial Networking and Operational Technology architecture. Configuration and Implementation of approved systems.Coordination and Execution of Regional Operational Technology trials and Proofs of Concept. Control & Asset and spares management coordination amongst all SA sites.Judgement and decision making Supports the intent of ensuring that the functional solution integrates into the broader CCBA template. Has joint accountability to ensure that Manufacturing Systems solutions are delivered on time, to budget and meets the requirements of the function. Has authority to execute changes to ensure manufacturing up time is maintained without adversely affecting system integrity. |
Skills, Experience & Education | A minimum National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) or equivalent.At least 3 years in Control & Automation or instrumentation technician environments. Working understanding of Operational Technician systems. Specialised knowledge of Instrument and Control calibrations, configurations, maintenance, fault finding, installation standards, documentation standards and instrumentation protocols. Basic understanding of and experience with Wonderware Archestra and Intouch based SCADA systems. Experience in problem solving methodology and Asset care and reliability fundamentals.In-depth knowledge of PLCs hardware and software, with specific emphasis on Siemens systems.Experience with industrial networking with good manufacturing and process understanding. |
