Short Description / Purpose of Job
Lead, direct and manage the provision of technical services for the Mining operations enabling the delivery of set targets in a manner that is safe, reliable and cost effective.
Identify risks and design mitigating strategies to ensure sustainable, standardised engineering practices.
Provide a fit-for purpose Maintenance Strategy in support of the Mining long-term business strategy.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
Ensure the provision of technical services by providing engineering support, equipment maintenance (predictive and reliability), Project Manager Services, Technology Services, as well as the implementation of good practices for optimisation of efficient and effective operations in order to enable the achievement of set cost and volume targets (interfacing with the Asset Services and Operations Improvements functions).
Lead and execute all Sasol Mining Projects.
Collaborate with Regional Ops & Asset Services in the provision of services for Sasol Mining and manage the Sasol Mining Central Workshop and Directional Drilling.
Oversee Tier 1 Stonework operations in order to pursue the required stonework needed to provide sufficient pit room in order to meet Sasol’s Mining’s targets.
Apply evidence-based SHE practices, in alignment with set standards, to ensure safe operations as well as playing a role in the reduction of Sasol’s GHG footprint.
Ensure the effective implementation of Sasol’s risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework.
Formal Education
Post Graduate Degree (MEM, MBA, etc.), with the relevant underlying Engineering degree
Min Experience
15 years relevant experience, preferably in the Mining Industry, of which 5 years at Senior Manager Engineering level, including experience in managing technical services / engineering with multiple facilities/mines/shafts in complex geographies.
Track record of implementing Operational Excellence and/or Performance Improvement projects with a proven SHE and compliance record.
Certification & Professional Membership
GCC (Mines) is a must
Profession Engineering Certification / ECSA registration is a wish
