The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has warned beneficiaries to wait until they receive an SMS informing them that their grant is ready for collection before attempting to collect their grant.
Failure to do so will result in beneficiaries being turned back from the post office without payment. Applicants who feel that their applications were wrongfully declined can apply to have their applications reconsidered.
Follow these steps to have your R350 SRD grant reconsidered by Sassa
Visit the SRD Website by clicking HERE
Step 1: Find the ‘Application for Reconsideration’ tab.
Step 2: Click on where it says ‘click here to apply for reconsideration’.
Step 3: You will be asked to provide your ID number and Mobile number.
Step 4: Follow the prompts to complete the reconsideration of your payment.
For more information, you can call Sassa’s toll-free number on 0800 601 011.
Sassa has noted that there have been delays in the reconsideration process, as some applicants have not received any feedback months after submitting their applications.
“Clients who applied for reconsideration are advised of the delay in addressing the reconsideration requests. Sassa is currently working to resolve this. Sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused” the agency said in response to concerns raised by applicants.
The R350 grant is set to come to an end in March 2022. After this date, Sassa will no longer be accepting new applications.
