Job Purpose
The incumbent will monitor and improve BVO driving performance by means of training, coaching, mentoring and analyses of driving records. To assist with the selection of BVO’s and to attend to BVO’s inductions.
Qualification & Learnings
Qualification
- Matric.
- TETA accredited assessor.
- Train-the Trainer Course, preferably with Scania, Mercedes Benz and DAF.
- Clear knowledge and understanding of Road Traffic Act.
- Understanding of Fatigue Management
- Defensive Driving training is a must.
- Roll-over prevention training is a must.
- Tachograph analysis training is a must.
- Valid EC license with PrDP
- Minimum 5 years driving experience with 3 years in dangerous goods
- Clear criminal record
- Knowledge of transport audits and compliance is an advantage; example is the oil majors audits such as Total SA Patrom, BP, Shell or Engen audits
- Understanding of industry specific compliance such as RTMS and AARTO

KEY PERFORMANCE OUTCOME 1: CONDUCT IN-CAB OBSERVATION AND COACHING
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA
1.1 Observe driver performance on-the-job
1.2 Identify BVO weaknesses
1.3 Coach BVO on weaknesses
1.4 Complete BVO assessment checklist
1.5 Compile monthly planning schedules for BVO assessments
1.6 Report back to Management regarding BVO performance, training and assessments completed
1.7 File assessments and other training/coaching documentation for easy retrieval

- Driver checklists are completed accurately and legibly
- BVO assessments must be completed in a fair and objective manner
- Problems with the BVO’s attitude and/or competence is to be reported to the relevant manager
- Feedback to BVO’s must be done in a constructive and honest manner
- Submit daily, weekly and monthly reporting
- Ensure that BVO’s being screened meet the minimum BVO requirement

- Assist with RTMS and ISO audits when required.
