The Hub First Line Manager will be responsible for the dispatch, receipt and management of product, stock, equipment and the overall running of the HUB. The primary objective of the role therefore focusses on strict timelines, efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Duties & Responsibilities

·Manage the overall running of the operation/ facility and all other secondary roles which flow from the function· Manage the use of all resources and ensure optimal operational implementation and planning of all variable assets to ensure operational excellence ·Providing input and executing the business unit’s 1 year operating plan, ensure operations costs are in line with budget and scorecard with continuous improvement in min unid·Ensure performance management and input into talent management, succession planning and reward & recognition (e.g. difference awards) ·  Manage employee relations in line with sound people principles and strategy·Ensures the on-time delivery of product to and from the distribution centre·        Ensure efficient warehousing with timeous movement of product/equipment·        Ensure implementation and effective utilization of system(s) to ensure that the movement of product is accurately identified and distributed timeously·        Ensure timeous delivery of accurate reporting and administration for transactional excellence to assist in performance tracking and decision making·        Ensure Adherence to company policies, procedures and legislation (e.g. OSH Acts and SHE programme) in line with corporate governance·        Manage end to end process compliance against the documented process standards within area of responsibility·        Build, develop and entrench a high performance culture by providing leadership, feedback, guidance, support and coaching to staff ·        Ensure housekeeping principles are adhered to and maintain health and safety standards ·        Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and legislation (e.g. OHASA and SHE programme) in line with corporate governance·        Identify value-creation opportunities for the company in the movement and distribution of the product ·        Demonstrate effective leadership aligned to the Woolworths Values to ensure the delivery of the operational scorecard ·        Ensure the maintenance, repairs, or replacements of machinery ·        Ensure that all ad hoc duties are carried out·        Building, integrating and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders in line with SLA’s to achieve operational excellence ·        Plan and execute visits to Store and Suppliers on a monthly basis to build relationships and manage SLA’s ·        Recover Woolworths equipment used by other none authorized suppliers ·        Manage recycling and control the return of reusable, recoverable waste from Stores

Desired Experience & Qualification

·        Knowledge & process understanding of logistics & related distribution processes ·        Working knowledge of supply chain operations and impact on stakeholders ·        PC literacy and is able to capture information and produce reports ·        Ability to manage consumables and assets ·        Understanding of process compliance ·        Have an understanding of relevant legislation ·        Ability to work across different temperature regimes e.g. Cold Chain and Frozen areas ·        Ability to quickly develop a knowledge and understanding of the suppliers’ customers, service provider’s businesses and demonstrates a passion for customer delivery ·        A Customer Service mind-set ·        Has an understanding of relevant legislation ·        Knowledge of Performance Management Systems ·        Knowledge of Employee Relations procedures ·        Able to work flexible hours in line with the business requirements·        Results driven individual who has demonstrated ability working in a high performance and pressurised environment·        Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail ·        Good written and oral communication skills·        Demonstrates an understanding of the impact of one’s own role on service delivery to internal and external customers ·        Demonstrate an understanding of business principles and practices; can effectively manage the materials function with a bottom line result
Other RequirementsWhat theoretical knowledge (e.g. degree / diploma) does the job require?·        Grade 12 certificate is compulsory·        Diploma or Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain advantageous·        Driver’s LicenseWhat experience (e.g. previous exposure) does the job require?·        A minimum of 3 years relevant Supply Chain working experience in a managerial function is compulsory·        Quality assurance background advantageous e.g. Six Sigma·        Experience in Retail/FMCG environment advantageous
